💼 Experience
I have built web applications, payment platforms, mobile apps, back-end services, websites, integration and 3rd party software, ETL pipelines, an iOT ecosystem and, back in the days, even a good old mainframe application.
Choosing a tech stack for a project depends on a lot of different factors (eg. use cases, available resources, company history, timing and scope). I have my preferences, but the list is non-exhaustive and ever changing.
My roots are within the Java space, but I made the move to everything Javascript/Typescript related because this gives much more flexibility. My preferred databases are non relational, and my favourite cloud provider is Google Cloud.

My main focus was an iOT Cloud Platform for airco and heat pump installers and users. This platform was designed to have connections from over 1 million airco and heat pump devices. Therefore, from the beginning, we battle tested our platform, with load test. And set in place a robust set of system integration test. We needed a generic unified datamodel to which all front-end applications and integrators could talk, without needing to worry about the technical details of each and every type of airco/heatpump device. This losely coupled architecture in combination with the expected load, was a nice challenge to work on.
